Quills away please. I know that you didn't have time to complete everything, so what you didn't finish is your homework. Class dismissed

Professor Minerva McGonagall
Thursday
Gryffindor Time: 9:00
Ravenclaw Time: 10:00
Hufflepuff Time: 11:00
Slytherin Time: 10:00
Wands out, please. I need you to prove that each of you can do the spells to turn a needle into a match and back. Please take your match and wand and line up in front of my desk. You will have three tries for it to count. Three at a time.

You all passed well enough, however those of you who didn't get it on the second try will need to practice tonight as well as the homework that I will give you at the end of class.
Now you will be learning a new spell. Since it is your second spell, it is another easy one. You will be turning paper into wood. I don't expect any of you will be managing more then cardboard, but you need to start somewhere. Please take out a sheet of paper, not parchment. The spell is ortinalis. You may begin. I will tell you when class is over. It will be in about half an hour.

Paper away please. If any of your sheets are too heavy and wood like, please bring them up to me and I will restore them to their original state. Your homework is to practice. But please remember to use paper. Parchment is not pleasant when this spell is used on it. Also, I would like you to think of a spell that you would like to learn. Class is dismissed.

Professor Babbling
Thursday
Gryffindor Time: 2:00
Ravenclaw Time: 9:00
Hufflepuff Time: 10:00
Slytherin Time: 11:00
Today is the day the you will learn the last eight. Please take out your copy of the runic alphabet and consentrate on the last eight runes, writing things with them, trying to remember them. At first, use your sheet, then try without. Once you feel that you have them down pretty well, you can use the whole alphabet.

Your attention please! It is now time for you to translate this class's translation. You have about half an hour. Once the whole scroll is translated, please follow the instructions on it. Try without looking at your sheet unless you really need to.

Half an hour is up. Please pull away your quills and turn towards me. Your homework will be to write me a letter in runic without looking at your sheet. I will be able to decipher your letter, never fear. Class, you are dismissed.

Defense Against the Dark Arts: First Year: Week 2: Thursday

Professor Quirrell
Thursday
Gryffindor Time: 11:00
Ravenclaw Time: 1:00
Hufflepuff Time: 9:00
Slytherin Time: 1:00
Since we have now covered vampires, I think that I want you to study werewolves next. I do not know how much each of you knows about werewolves, so I will start at the beginning.
A werewolf is a human that is forced to change into a blood thirsty wolf at every full moon. Most people do not wish such a transformation and consider it shameful and something to be hidden. It is true that most werewolves have a harder time getting jobs because people are afraid that they may be bitten by their employees.
Werewolves are only as dangerous as any other human on any other day than the full moon. Once the light of the full moon falls on them, then they become a full fledged monster.
Lycanthropy, the term for the condition of being a werewolf, is contagious through bites and occationally heritage. If you are bitten on any other day than the full moon, however, you may become a bit wolfish, but not be a fully fledged werewolf.

Please put away your notes. Your homework is to read about the werewolf in a copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and read this link about werewolves. Also, copy out the definition of werewolf and lycanthropy from a dictionary. Class is dismissed.
