Hufflepuff Time: 9:00
Slytherin Time: 11:00
Hello again, everyone. For today's class I would like you to all think back to the trip we took to London. Take out a piece of paper and a pen while we brainstorm.
I will give you two minutes to list every muggle thing you saw in London. When you are finished, please hand them up here (post in the comments).
Thank you. Now I would like you to choose one experience from your trip and to write a report on it. Make it a personal report, like how it felt to be there and what you thought as you were doing it.
There is the bell. Continue on your report and turn it in next week.

Muggle Studies: First Year: Week 4: Wednesday
Professor Charity Burbage
Wednesday
Gryffindor Time: 10:00
Ravenclaw Time: 11:00
Hufflepuff Time: 9:00
Slytherin Time: 11:00
As a special holiday treat, I got special permission from Professor Dumbledore to take you on an outing. We will be taking carriages to Hogsmeade and then taking Floo powder to Diagon Alley. From there, we will get to explore London. This will be an all day trip, which is why all of the Houses are here together. All classes are cancelled for the rest of the day, except Astronomy. I must remind you to watch your language. No mentioning things like 'spells' or 'wands'. While you are enjoying yourselves, please remember to take mental notes as I will be asking questions next class. Now please line up for a dress inspection.
While those students are off ridding themselves of magical apparatus, I would like the remaining students to file out to the Great Hall.
Everyone here now? Good. Please follow me to the carriages.

I thought that it was time for you to learn about the currency system that British Muggles use. They have eight coins and four banknotes. The coins are 1 penny, 2 pence, 5 pence, 10 pence, 20 pence, 50 pence, 1 pound, and 2 pounds and the notes are the 5 pound note, the 10 pound note, the 20 pound note and the 50 pound note. They use the decimal system meaning that there are one hundred pence to a pound.
To give you an idea on how much a pound is worth, consider this:
One galleon is worth £2.62
One sickle is worth £0.15
One knut is worth £0.005
This means that you need two knuts to get even one penny.
Now I want you to try to convert these problems. You may certainly use a calculator.
Pounds to galleons
£4
£8
£3.98
£1
£7.42
£2.11
I hope that you have figured all of these out. Next time maybe we'll try the reverse. For now, it is time to go. No homework, but please come dressed in Muggle clothing next class and come at 9 o'clock. I have a surprise for everyone!

Ravenclaw Time: 11:00

Welcome back, class! I am glad to see you all dressed in muggle clothing. I thought that we should study muggle transportation first. Please take out a muggle pen and paper.
The most common way is the automobile or car. Here and here are some photos of cars.
Another way muggles travel is by airplane. Airplanes are large airships that noisly rumble through the sky. It is not quite certain how these airplanes stay up without magic. There is a picture of an airplane here.
One more popular way for muggles to travel is by train. You have ridden on one before, obviously. It was the Hogwarts Express. While you were at Kings Cross, did you notice the muggle trains? I want you to turn to your neighbor and tell them about one thing you noticed while in Kings Cross about muggle trains.
We now have just enough time for you to get back into your uniforms before your next class. Please put away your pen and paper. Your Homework is either to compare the car, plane or train to the wizarding equivalent or to write a brief history of the car, plane or train. Class is dismissed.

Hello class! Welcome to Muggle Studies! I am Professor Burbage and I will be your teacher for learning the ways of the muggles. Now to learn properly about muggles, I will need you to direct your attention to the blackboard.
Black Board
1. You must wear muggle clothes
2. No wands
3. Do not use Magical vocabulary
Let me explain about those rules. Number one: This means that you will be switching your Hogwarts cloaks for muggle jackets. Number two: This means that no wands will be allowed to enter my classroom. All wands will be left in the coatroom in your bookbag. Number three) This means that no spell words will be allowed, no words like muggle, we will all be talking like muggles. Now I want you to take a little quiz on how much you know about muggles. Each question you get right equals 20%. You have ten minutes. Go!
Muggle Vocabulary Test
1. Most muggle things run on:
a. ecletricity
b. electricy
c. lecticity
2.What is mail sent over the internet called?

3. Most muggles travel by:

What sort of animation do muggle photos have?
a. They are still
b. They can move around
c. Muggles don't have photos
What muggle sport involves hitting a ball with a stick?

Now class, ten minutes are up. How did you do? I hope you got full marks. If you missed any questions, the answers will probably come up during a class and other than that you are welcome to ask me. This will be all for today and you do not have any homework. Class is dismissed.
