More symbol studying today. Quills out please, and copy down this list. You should have it memorized by the time class is up.

Sheep: Good luck
Skeleton: Illness
Lizard: Hidden Enemies
Crab: An enemy near by
Dragon: changes
Fish: News from abroad
Goose: invitation

You have twenty minutes to memorize these signs.

Twenty minutes are up. I would like you to pair up. You will pretend that you have seen these signs in the other person's tea cup. First, decide who is person A and who is person B. Now, person A will read person B's list and visa versa.

Person A's teacup has:
A Crab
A Fish
and A Key

Person B's teacup has
A Goose
A Skeleton
and A Shoe

Tell each other what you predict for the future and then copy it down onto a piece of parchment. After giving me the parchment, you are free to go.

Hello class. If you remember, last time we were beginning to learn about the Curse of the Bogies. I had you research a demonic creature so that you would have a better understanding of what we were about to study. Hopefully you still remember the results of your research.

The Curse of the Bogies causes a certain demon to become highly attracted to the person the curse was cast upon. The effects can be very nasty because once the demon has been attached to a person it will then attack that person relentlessly using whatever powers it has. Generally the person is not prepared to defend him or her self and succumbs to the demon quickly. You can not be picky about which demon will answer the Curse of the Bogies. It will be a native of the area, generally, but other than that there is no way of knowing. No one knows exactly why this curse will attach a demon to a person. Most theories involve a spell attaching to the victim. The spell seems to have a promise of easy meat. Not all demonic creatures will answer the call. The more intelligent ones will ignore it, or as some people think, not hear it at all. This is a bit unlikely (creating a spell that only stupid demons can sense), but possible perhaps.

I hope that you got that all down in your notes. Your homework is to write a paragraph on your own theory on how the Curse of the Bogies. Make sure that it is convincing! Class is dismissed.

Transfiguration: First Year: Week 5: Thursday

Professor Minerva McGonagall
Thursday
Gryffindor Time: 9:00
Ravenclaw Time: 10:00
Hufflepuff Time: 11:00
Slytherin Time: 10:00

Today you will be continuing to try to turn a beetle into a button. Now, can all of you remember the spell? How about you there in the back row? No, not scaraga. ScaraBYga. Make sure to pronounce the whole correct spell. Now if you would each take one of these beetles... You may begin. I hope that at least one of you will have transformed a beetle into a button by the end of the class.

I am going to come around now and collect your beetles. Five points will be given to each student who turns in a button instead. After I take your beetle - or button - you are free to go. I want you to practice over the weekend so that when you return on Tuesday we can move onto turning a button into a beetle.

Arithmancy: First Year: Week 5: Thursday

Professor Vector

Gryffindor Time: 1:00
Ravenclaw Time: 11:00
Hufflepuff Time: 2:00
Slytherin Time: 9:00

Today we will continue to study the personality traits, moving onto 5 and 6.

Five is the number of instability and imbalance. Fives are prone to change and will frequently commit to many projects and do none. They are energetic, adventurous, and very willing to take risks to achieve their goals. They do not remain in one place long, instead preferring a more nomadic life of wandering and travel.
The downside of fives is that they can be conceited, irresponsible, quick-tempered, and flighty.

Sixes are the opposite. They are reliable, loyal, and keep their friends. They are family oriented and do well in the arts, but have a lousy business sense. They can be prone to gossiping and laziness.
Six is considered one of the most auspicious numbers of arthimancy. If you add 1+2+3 you get 6 and if you multiply 1x2x3 you will also get six.

All right. Put your quills away. Your homework is to study the numbers we have learned so far. Class is dismissed.
