Charms: First Year: Week 6: Monday

Professor Filius Flitwick
Monday
Gryffindor Time: 9:00
Ravenclaw Time: 9:00
Hufflepuff Time: 10:00
Slytherin Time: 11:00

Today we will be continuing with more active uses of Wingardium Leviosa. This time, we will be throwing with it. First, I want you -without wands!- to hold out your wand arm. Cup it as if holding an imaginary ball. Now without hitting anyone throw your imaginary ball far and high as you can.
Next, take hold of your wand and place the imaginary ball on the tip of your wand and flick your wand as if you could send it flying. You might think that flicking it as hard as you can would send the ball flying through the window, but it is surprisingly difficult to get it very far at all. However, you should all come over on this side of the room just to be safe.
I am going to give you each a wooden ball. You should stand well away from everyone else. Levitate your ball until it is hovering about wand height. Then give your wand a flick and try toss your ball away from you. Don't be disappointed by how far you get it at first. You will improve with time. You have forty minutes to practice.

Settle down now class! Your time is up. I don't think that you should practice this spell in the Common rooms, however you should try it outside and well away from the castle. If you need medical attention due to a ball being thrown at you, please go see Madam Pomfrey. She will be happy to patch you up. Off you go now, to your next class!
