It has been suggested to me that I teach you a Fright Solution, as some of your marks are exceptionally poor due to an absurd fright of my class. Very well, I will. Ingredients and instructions are on the board. I do hope that you have not forgotten to bring the bottle of Timor Orchid sap that Professor Sprout gave you.

Timor Orchid sap
Dragon's blood
Flobberworm mucus
Fig juice
3 porcupine quills
Spiders, dead and dried
Essence of Lionfish

Instructions
Bring 1 pint of fig juice to a boil. Add 1 gram dragon's blood and let simmer for 5 minutes. While it simmers, grind an addition gram of dragon's blood with 10 dried spiders in your mortar and pestle. Add this to the fig juice after five minutes. Stir five times clockwise. Simmer for three minutes, then add 1 ounce flobberworm mucus. The potion should immediately turn a brilliant purple. Add five drops Essence of Lionfish. This should cause the potion to return to a dull green. Bring back to a fierce boil and add 3 porcupine quills. The potion should go several shades lighter in color and thicken considerably. Lastly, add 20 drops of Timor Orchid sap. Let it continue to boil fiercely until it has turned to the color and thickness of glue. Remove from heat and bottle.

Your time is up. Bottle your effort and bring it up to me. I will keep it for grading. You may keep the remainder of your Timor Orchid sap as it will lose it's potency tomorrow. Class dismissed.

Right, class. Straighten up and pay attention. Today I am going to set you to learn a potion that is the base of many advanced potions. You will need to learn it by heart, so pay attention to every step and Remember It! Instructions are on the board. You will have half an hour.

Water
Peppermint, dried
Spearmint, dried
Caterpillar Pods

Instructions
Pour 1 1/6 cups water into your cauldron and boil. Add 1/2 a teaspoon each of peppermint and spearmint. Simmer for three minutes
Next, add 1 gram moonflower and 1 caterpillar pod. Stir seven times clockwise. The air should start to smell like hot rubber.
Let simmer for five minutes. Add in 1/3 cup water with 1/4 cup crushed ice. The potion should be a golden green.
Take off of heat and set in a cold enviroment. Bottle when entirely chilled.

Half an hour is up. No matter how far you got, bring up your cauldrons and set them in this freezing charm I have set up. Clean up your messes and then listen to your homework. Your homework is to practice this potion and remember it!

Today we will see just how much your brains have learned. I have chosen a potion that you have made before. I will give you five minutes to study the instructions on the board before removing them. You will then make that potion from memory. This is because you will not always have a book to refer to. Ready? Go.

Ingredients:
Fire mint
Colloid of silver
1 Sickle

Flobberworm slime
3 Gnome teeth, crushed
Dragon's blood

Instructions: Fill your cauldron with 5 1/4 cups of water. Next add a tablespoon of fire mint. Stir once. Add the gnome teeth and let sit for 5 minutes. Crush five grains of dragon's blood and rub it on the sickle. Pour two 1/2 teaspoons of the colloid into a bowl and dip the sickle in it. Put your cauldron over the fire and bring it to a simmer without boiling it. Pour in the colloid and drop in the sickle. When a light green steam rises from your cauldron, bring it off the heat. Pour half the mixture into your alembic. Set the alembic over a low flame, put a bowl below the spout of the alembic and wait while it distills.




Five minutes are up! You now have forty-five minutes to complete your potion.

Class is now over. Bottle up your disasters and bring it forward. Your homework is to read up on the recipe and figure out where you went wrong. I will see you again in January.

Today we will be doing a Sticking Potion. While the list of ingredients is deceptively short, I must remind you how important the oil is in the ingredient and the instructions. All else that you need to know is on the board.

Sticking Solution
Ingredients:

1 Pine Resin Ball
Oil of any kind of vegetable
Dried flobberworms
Horklump spores

Pour a tablespoon of oil into your cauldron and swirl it around, coating the side thoroughly. Next, take a pinch of horklump spores and blow into the oil. Repeat until the inside of your cauldron is pink. Next, take two dried flobberworms and set them in a separate dish. Pour on just enough oil to cover them. Wait for three minutes until they turn a faint blue/gray. Pour off the oil and go over to the sinks. Holding the dish under the water, turn it on to a slight drip. As each drip hits the flobberworms, the dried flesh will dissolve. Do this until they are both liquid and not a moment longer. Take the ball of resin and roll it in the flobberworm slime. Then take that ball and roll it around your cauldron, picking up the horklump spores and coating it with oil. Now, suspend that ball in the air above a flame using a spell. The ball cannot touch anything other than air. The oil will burn off and the spores will embed themselves into the solidifing flobberworm slime. When it burns no longer, remove it from the flame and let cool on a gold dish. When you need to stick something, rub this ball against the surface for three strokes to the North and on the other surface, three strokes to the South. Put the two together and they will bond quite strongly.

Class! Your time is up so bring me your Sticking Sticks in their gold dishes. Clean out your cauldrons and write down your homework which is to why the oil doesn't ruin the ability of this to stick as well as if you think that it makes the ball stronger. That is all.

Hello class. Today we will begin with a cheering potion. As always, the instructions are on the blackboard. The supply closet was recently restocked so don't say that we are out of something or I personally will make certain you get detention.

Ingredients:
Fire mint
2 pieces Mandrake root
½ a Trolls finger, crushed
Petrified Fairy's Tears
Moonflower
Water
Your favorite power stone
Small power stones
Instructions:
Measure out a 3/4 a cup of water and put it in your cauldron. Add the mandrake root and 1/4 tsp scoop of fire mint. Stir. Put in two pinches moonflower at the same time as three fairy's tears. Bring to a boil, and then simmer for one minute. Remove from the flames. Next, add a 1/8 teaspoon scoop of small power stones and your favorite power stone. To mix, add another 3/4 cup of water. You now have a cheering potion! Smell it to lift your spirits. After you are done with the potion, fish out the power stone-it can be used again, strain out the large hunks and throw them away and pour the rest of the potion down the drain.

Today we will work with a cooling draught. As always, the instructions are on the blackboard. I felt that last potion was a bit callenging for you, so today's is without fire. I certainly hope that you can make this simple potion go right. I was very disappointed with last classes results.

Instructions: Measure out 1 cup of cold water. Put it in your cauldron. Drop in a bird’s eye. Squish the beetle eye and add that too. Stir. Next add a small scoop of fire mint. Crush the second bird’s eye and add. Then add the gnome teeth and add 2 more teaspoons of water. Stir five times and let sit for 5 minutes. While the potion is soaking, choose four powerstones, two of them about an inch across and the other two about a quarter of an inch round. When the potion is finished soaking, drop the powerstones in and stir twenty times in opposite directions slowly. When the potion has stopped swirling, plunge in your hands and retrieve the stones. The smaller ones should be set behind your ears, right beneath the lobe, while the larger ones are meant to be set on your wrists. You should be colder soon. If the effects wear off, soak them once more.

Today we will be doing the warming potion. The process is the same as last time. Instructions are, of course, on the black board. You should have your potion finished by the time class is up.

1 Phoenix Feather

1 Ginger Root
Instructions
From the tap get three cups of warm water. Keep this water simmering. Add 1/4 of a teaspoon of firemint and two fire crab shells to your potion. Stir 7 times. Add another cup of warm water. Chop up the gnomes teeth. Add to your potion. Next drop in a tablespoon of fairy's tears. Bring to a rolling boil, then back to a low simmer. After simmering for 70 seconds, freeze it immediatly. Rub all over with the ginger root. Melt over high heat. To apply, dip the phoenix feather in the potion and brush along all exposed areas. When that area is warm, rinse off the potion with cold water. The warming effect will linger.

Hello class. Today we will begin with a sleeping potion. Not that you look like you need it. You all look as if a single drop would send you off to dreamland. But we will begin with it anyway. It is simple enough for the least dunce to do. The recipe is on the blackboard. I will check your cauldrons when class is over.

Ingredients:
13 Beetle Eyes
Water
Crushed Basilisk Bones
1 Black Power Stone
Fire Mint
Moon Flower
A Square of Cloth

Instructions
Fill your Cauldron half full of water and boil. Mash one beetle eye. Crumble it into the boiling water. Add one cup of water to your cauldron and mash another beetle and add it. Stir twice. Add one tablespoon of the basilisk bones. DO NOT STIR! Add a teaspoon of moonflower and an 1/8 of a teaspoon of firemint. Stir 10 times. Drop the other beetle eyes in uncrushed. Then add the powerstone. Let the potion simmer for thirteen minutes, then cool for 19 minutes. Fish the power stone out with a spoon. Wash it in cold water. It can be used again at another time. Let the cloth soak in the strained potion for seven minutes. Let it dry. Place it above the head of the person you wish to cause to go to sleep.
